Why
would missionaries march to a different drum than their contemporaries,
to experience danger and hardship in foreign countries rather
than security and prosperity in their home countries? Why can't
we just stay where we are to witness the Lord and spread the gospel?
Rev.
Frank Hall, a guest speaker from Santa Maria, challenged
us with this: "Until we step out from the comfort zone and reach
out for the un-reached, our life experience is primarily based
on facts, not on faith." Rev. Stephen Yik also encouraged
us to get involved in the missions work, to open ourselves to
non-believers, and to love our neighbors near and far.
Would
you like to have a partnership in the Great Commission? Here are
some avenues that you can take:
- Act locally
- share your faith and witness to your family, friends and co-workers;
visit the sick, poor and needy; volunteer work for a homeless
shelter.
- Build
your vision - prepare yourself and become a short-term missionary.
- Join
the missions committee - plan and execute the support of community
outreach, local and foreign missions.
- Support
your missionaries - invest time to pray for them and give financial
help.
Any
valuable resources that you offered to support this ministry is
greatly appreciated. May God bless you richly.
